The first phase of the Pune Outer Ring Road, developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is nearing completion and promises to bring significant improvements to the city’s infrastructure.
Designed as a circular, access-controlled highway, the project aims to reduce congestion by diverting long-distance and commercial traffic away from the city center. land The surveys, route demarcation, and initial feasibility studies are almost done, and as construction progresses, with key bridges and tunnels near Sangrun and Davaje villages, located along the Khadakwasla dam backwaters, the ring road is expected to provide faster travel. The project’s completion is also anticipated to lower pollution levels due to less congestion and improve overall road safety.
Once operational, the road will link with major highways, such as the Pune-Bengaluru expressway, further enhancing regional connectivity. The outer ring road will not only ease daily traffic but also support Pune's organized growth, as per an official overseeing the project.
