Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has successfully commissioned the Khavda II-C interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme in Gujarat, through its arm, Powergrid Khavda II-C Transmission.
The system, part of the "Transmission system for evacuation of 4.5 GW RE injection at Khavda PS under Phase-II, Part C," was fully commissioned on 31 January, 2026. The commercial operation notification (DOCO) was received on February 2, 2026. The Rs 2,821 crore project consists of two components: a 765kV double-circuit line from Ahmedabad substation to New Navsari substation (590 ckm) and a greenfield 765/400kV substation in Ahmedabad. The substation was commissioned in phases between September and November 2025, while the transmission line completion marked the final step of the project.
Despite delays caused by forest clearance issues, the project was completed within 25 months of its original schedule. This marks PGCIL’s eighth ISTS-TBCB scheme commissioned in FY26, with more projects expected by March 2026.
