The power sector in Pune zone will receive Rs 2,600 crore boost from the Central government under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the next six months.
The project includes 14 new sub-stations, seven switching stations, two power transformers, over 1,000 distribution transformers and around 3,000 feeder pillars.
The bifurcation pattern of the funds will allocate Rs 1,720 crore towards smart metering, Rs 351 crore for loss reduction and Rs 588 crore for infrastructure modernisation, as per the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL). It will be utilised during FY24.
RDSS aims to improve the quality and affordability of power supply through a digitalised system and improved network. It also focuses on aggregated technical, commercial and collection (ATC and C) reduction of losses.
