The Punjab government has notified the formation of three textile sector- specific committees to provide recommendations for the state’s upcoming industrial policy, Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora announced on 23 July, 2025. This move aims to attract greater investment and generate employment opportunities within the textile industry.
The committees will focus on three key verticals: spinning and weaving, apparel, and dyeing and finishing. Vardhman Group Chairman S. P. Oswal will lead the spinning and weaving committee, Monte Carlo Director Sandeep Jain will head the apparel committee, and industrialist Rajnish Gupta will chair the dyeing and finishing panel. “These committees are expected to submit their recommendations by October 1,” said Arora.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Ludhiana, will serve as the member secretary for all three panels, ensuring smooth coordination. Each committee consists of eight to10 members representing various stakeholders in the textile sector. The panels are tasked with advising the state government on emerging industry trends, policy updates, and actionable steps to boost investments and employment. He also mentioned that committees for other sectors—such as IT, auto components, bicycles, and sports goods—will be announced shortly.
