Reliance Industries (RIL) and its UK-based partner, BP PLC, had invited bids for the sale of 6 cubic metres of gas per day.
The auctions were initially scheduled for 18 January and were pushed back to 24 January, and bids were invited for gas produced starting in February 2023.
The companies stated in a letter sent jointly by RIL and BP Exploration (Alpha), the BP Indian division, that the bidding process has been put on hold until further notice.
Krishna Godavari Dhirubhai-6 (KG-D6) is the largest natural gas deposit in the nation and RIL's first offshore gas field development.
On January 13, 2023, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas changed existing rules for the sale and resale of gas discovered in deep sea, ultra-deep water, and high pressure-high temperature areas with marketing and pricing freedom.
Following the changes in the regulation, the companies would issue another tender after changing the terms of the auction.
