The Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, achieved a major milestone by manufacturing its 15,000th coach on 15 December, 2025.
Since its inception in 2007, MCF has become one of India’s most advanced passenger coach manufacturing units, with an annual capacity of 1,000 coaches. Built at a cost of Rs 3,192 crore, the facility is located just three km from Lalganj on the Kanpur-Raebareli Road. Production at MCF began with 140 coaches in 2014-15 and reached a record 2,025 coaches in 2024-25. The coaches produced at MCF include a range of rolling stock, such as Humsafar, Tejas, Antyodaya, and MEMU coaches.
Of the total 15,000 coaches, 7,000 are air-conditioned, and 8,000 are non-air-conditioned. In the current financial year, MCF has already manufactured 1,310 coaches, reflecting the factory's growing production capacity and significant contribution to India's rail infrastructure.
