Rajasthan is set to initiate 37 new mineral exploration projects in 2026-27, focusing on a variety of minerals, including limestone, ferrous metals, decorative stones, and rare earth elements.
This announcement was made during a meeting of the State Geological Programming Board, which also reviewed progress on ongoing projects. The exploration efforts will be carried out in collaboration with Central and state agencies such as the Geological Survey of India (GSI), the Atomic Energy Department (AMD), and the Mineral Exploration and Consultancy (MECL). Rajasthan, known for its rich mineral resources, will see extensive exploration in areas like the Sivana Ring, Rohila, and the Bikaner-Nagaur belt.
GSI plans 80 exploration projects for the year, with nearly half focused on critical and strategic minerals. The government aims to enhance coordination among agencies to avoid overlaps and ensure quality data.
