Reliance Industries (RIL), led by Mukesh Ambani, plans to operationalise its clean energy gigafactories in Jamnagar, Gujarat, within the next four to six quarters.
The factories will produce solar panels, batteries, and electrolysers for green hydrogen production. These initiatives are expected to reduce RIL’s energy costs by at least 25 percent, according to a company presentation shared on July 18, 2025.
Located near the world’s largest oil refinery complex, the gigafactories are part of Reliance’s broader clean energy push. Chief Financial Officer V Srikanth said the company will seek partnerships for its green energy business after stabilizing operations. “It’s win-win in multiple ways,” he noted, signaling openness to collaborations for financing and long-term purchase agreements.
Additionally, Reliance is building India’s largest solar glass factory to reduce dependence on imports. Currently, India imports nearly 70 percent of its solar glass, but recent anti-dumping duties imposed in May 2025 are encouraging domestic manufacturing.
