The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved four road projects in both Assam and Madhya Pradesh for the widening of National Highways.
Of the four projects, CCEA has approved three projects in Assam. These three projects involves widening of stretches of NH-37 on DBFOT basis in BOT mode under Special Accelerated Road Development Programme in North Eastern Region (SARDP-NE) at an estimated cost Rs 1,933 crore. This also includes widening of road from Jorhat to Demow section with an estimated investment of Rs 874.69 crore, Numaligarh to Jorhat section with Rs 584.68 investment and Demow to Bogibil junction section of NH 37. The cost of the three projects has excluded land acquisition and other pre-construction activities. The projects will expedite improvement of infrastructure in Assam and will ease the traffic besides improving employment potential for local labourers for project activities.
CCEA has also approved a road project in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal and Jabalpur district. The project envisages development of four-laning of the Jabalpur-Bhopal section of 294.21 km stretch on NH-12 under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III on DBFOT basis in BOT (Toll) mode of delivery. The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,686.91 crore.
