The Goripalayam flyover in Madurai, a Rs 190 crore project, is set to open in February after years of delay.
Officials confirmed that the final deck slabs are almost done, and the remaining work, including lighting and painting, will be finished within ten days. Once completed, it will ease congestion at one of the city's busiest junctions. Senior officials are closely monitoring progress, and a final inauguration date is expected soon. Public Works Minister EV Velu had earlier announced that the flyover would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister during Pongal, but it is likely to happen in the second week of February.
The flyover will connect Goripalayam with Sellur, responding to a long-standing demand from residents for better traffic flow. "Once the final work is done, the project will be ready for public use," said a senior engineer overseeing the project.
