A road package worth Rs 20,500 crore in Chhattisgarh was announced by the Union Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, yesterday.
Considering the proposals of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, a package of Rs 20,500 crore will be given to the state in the current financial year.
Construction of 3,275 km of roads is expected in these projects.
The union minister was in Chhattisgarh to lay the foundation stones of five state highway development projects worth around Rs 1,700 crore in Kawardha district.
The new projects consist of a high quality road connecting the two prominent religious places -- Ratanpur in Bilaspur district and Dantewada district headquarters. It will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore and will be 525 km in length.
Also, Rs 4,000 crore will be allocated for construction of 1,000 km of roads in the Naxal-affected region.
