The Central government has allocated Rs 3,320 crore towards the revised cost of completing the Polavaram Irrigation Project.
This funding will help achieve water storage up to an elevation level of 41.15 mtrs., which is the minimum drawdown level, and is expected to strengthen irrigation and drinking water supply in the region. In addition to Polavaram, Rs 500.99 crore has been allocated for the A.P. Rural Roads Project to improve connectivity in rural areas.
The Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Programme has received Rs 432.09 crore through funding from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, supporting planned urban growth in the capital region. Further allocations include Rs 350 crore for the AP Roads and Bridges Reconstruction Project, aimed at upgrading transport infrastructure, and Rs 155.32 crore for the AP Climate Resilient Zero Budget Natural Farming Project, which promotes sustainable agriculture. Overall, these budgetary allocations reflect the Centre’s focus on irrigation, infrastructure development, urban planning, and climate-resilient farming in Andhra Pradesh.
