The Centre is set to undertake major road infrastructure development in Telangana, with projects worth Rs two lakh crore planned over the next three to four years.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, made the announcement during an event in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated road projects worth over Rs 3,900 crore. The the length of national highways in Telangana has doubled in the past decade, now spanning 5,000 km. The Minister added, "So far works worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore have been completed."
In addition to road infrastructure, Gadkari proposed implementing water conservation projects under the Centre’s “Amrit Sarovar” scheme and requested cooperation from Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other state leaders. Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, who was also present, emphasised that these infrastructure projects would improve connectivity not only within Telangana but also with neighbouring states like Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
The event was attended by several senior leaders, including MoS Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Telangana Ministers Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Danasari Anasuya Seethakka.
