Drinking Water Minister Subhash Faldesai has announced a Rs 443-crore water infrastructure project to address water related issues, which is nearing completion.
The project includes new pipelines and a dedicated water reservoir for Mormugao, expected to be completed by April, promising a significant improvement in water supply and reducing recurring shortages. The Minsiter informed the House that the assessed water requirement for Mormugao is 12 million litres per day (MLD), with the total demand for the taluka at 81 MLD. The current supply stands at 77-78 MLD, with any shortfall only occurring during technical issues.
Responding to concerns raised by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar about water scarcity, Minister Faldesai attributed the challenges to the constituency’s high-altitude location, which complicates water distribution despite adequate supply.
