The South Central Railway (SCR) has fast-tracked 18 key infrastructure projects across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, covering 1,763.26 km at an estimated cost of Rs 27,342.44 crore.
The projects include new railway lines, doubling, tripling works, and major capacity enhancements. A notable development is the recently sanctioned fourth line on the Secunderabad-Wadi section, along with a 173.40 km third-line expansion at a cost of Rs 5,012 crore. The Mudkhed-Dhone line, one of the largest undertakings, spans 417.88 km and costs Rs 4,686.09 crore. In addition, a 173.61 km line between Pandurangapuram is being developed at Rs 3,591.76 crore, and the third line between Kazipet and Vijayawada, covering 219.64 km, is nearing completion with Rs 3,103.99 crore allocated.
Other projects include the Kazipet-Balharshah third line, costing Rs 2,909.89 crore, and the 151.36 km Manoharabad-Kothapalli line. The Bibinagar-Guntur double line and Motumari-Vishnupuram double line are also progressing, with land acquisition currently underway. These initiatives aim to enhance railway infrastructure in the region, supporting faster connectivity and economic growth.
