SJVN Green Energy (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), has commenced commercial operations of 78.23 MW capacity at its Bikaner solar power project in Rajasthan.
This development is part of the larger 1,000 MW solar project being constructed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme - Phase II, Tranche III, by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The first phase of 241.77 MW began commercial operations on 02 April, 2025. With the latest addition, SGEL is progressing steadily toward full commissioning of the 1000 MW project by the third quarter of 2025. Upon completion, the solar power generated will be supplied to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, supporting regional power needs and contributing to India's clean energy goals.
The project is being implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, aligning with the Make in India initiative and strengthening the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem. It also reinforces India's ambition to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
