Samsung Electronics has announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore (approx. USD 117 million) in its manufacturing facility located near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Industries Minister T R B Rajaa said.
This investment is for the plant, which produces refrigerators, televisions, and washing machines. The facility, a vital part of Samsung's India operations, contributes roughly 20 percent of the company's USD 12 billion sales in the country for the 2022–23 financial year.
The company’s commitment to expanding its operations in India underscores its strategic importance to Samsung’s business in the region. The company would be creating an additional 100 work opportunities at the facility, which currently employs over 2,000 people.
The Minister also announced in the Assembly the setting up of a Taiwanese Industrial Park with an eye on attracting Rs 10,000 crore in investment and generating employment for 20,000 people.The Park will support their vendors and boost long-term manufacturing commitments.
