Samsung India has opened its split air-conditioner (AC) manufacturing line at
its Sriperumbudur facility in Tamil Nadu, on 17 November 2009.
Of the proposed investment of $100 million (approx Rs 460 crore), the company
has so far invested $30 million (approx Rs 138 crore), in this facility. The
remaining $70 million (approx Rs 322 crore) is likely to be invested in future
expansion by 2011.
The split ACs manufactured at this facility are likely to meet the company's
market requirements in South and West India.
Inaugurated in 2007, the Sriperumbudur facility has been manufacturing LCD
TVs, Flat and Slim CTVs, front loading washing machines and colour monitors.
