Sarveshwar Foods, one of India’s leading Basmati rice processors and exporters, has received in-principle approval from the Jammu & Kashmir Horticulture Marketing & Processing Corporation for a Rs 197.29 crore Basmati Cluster Development Project.
Approved under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, the project will be implemented across RS Pora, Samba and Kathua districts and aims to transform the entire Basmati value chain from seed to market. The initiative will create modern infrastructure covering scientific farming, pre-production systems, post-harvest management, value addition, advanced processing facilities, and strong branding, logistics and marketing linkages. It is expected to significantly improve the quality, scale and global competitiveness of Jammu’s renowned Basmati varieties.
The project will directly benefit farmers by increasing yields, reducing costs, improving storage and processing access, and opening high-demand domestic and export markets, while also boosting rural employment and entrepreneurship.
