Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has inaugurated the Farmers’ Training and Common Facility Centre for Agro Processing (FT-CFC) at Methagal village, Koppal, Karnataka.
This centre, the first in the Kalyana Karnataka region, aims to enhance rural livelihoods by promoting value addition, reducing post-harvest losses, and generating sustainable income for farmers. Funded with Rs 5.5 crore under the MPLAD scheme and supported by NABARD and the Government of India, the centre is expected to generate Rs 12.58 crore annually.
Equipped to process mango, papaya, guava, ginger, and more, the centre also offers training in processing, packaging, branding, and digital marketing through partnerships with Sahyadri Farms and UAS Raichur. The initiative supports various agro-processing units across Karnataka, promoting farmer empowerment and economic growth.
