Bengaluru-based SatSure has laid out an investment plan of USD 35 million for the launch of four earth imaging satellites by 2025. The satellites boast nearly 65 km of coverage with one-mtr. resolution, and include onboard edge processing capabilities, allowing for customisation of datasets to meet customer requirements.
The launch of these satellites is scheduled for November 2025, with the company in the process of finalising launch and data distribution partners in India.
Established in 2017, the start-up offers high-resolution optical and multispectral data, which find diversified uses including risk management, crop insurance, agricultural applications and many others. It has also formed partnerships with multiple organisations specialising in different aspects of hardware development, including Spiral Blue, Satellogic, SkyServe, and others.
The spacetech fim which created a subsidiary, called KaleidEO for backward integration, also became the first company in India to deploy edge computing in space on 12 September, 2023. SatSure’s immediate focus is on addressing national security and disaster management needs in India.
To date, the company has secured USD 20 million in funding, with nearly half of the funds allocated to satellite fleet development, and the rest to be utilised for geographical expansion, product development, and growth initiatives.
