The Telangana government has announced plans to develop a sprawling 1,000-acre ‘Electronic City (E-City)’ as part of its broader ‘Future City’ initiative, aimed at positioning the state as a hub for high-tech manufacturing and innovation. This was disclosed by IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu during a meeting with representatives from Taiwan-based Sera Networks and Hyderabad's LCGC Resolute Group.
The two companies have formed a joint venture and committed an investment of Rs 300 crore to set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Telangana. Spread across 10 acres, the facility will focus on producing telecommunications equipment such as 5G networks, multi-layer networking solutions, and servers. The project is expected to generate employment for approx. 2,500 skilled professionals
As part of the state’s efforts to attract and facilitate industrial investments, the Minister announced the formation of a dedicated task force aimed at streamlining procedures for setting up industries and removing bureaucratic barriers. He further assured that entrepreneurs establishing units in tier-II and tier-III cities would receive special incentives as part of the government’s inclusive industrial development strategy. He reiterated the Telangana government’s commitment to building world-class industrial infrastructure tailored to the operational needs of individual companies.
The proposed Electronic City will serve as a nucleus for the Future City project, combining innovation, manufacturing, and investment in one ecosystem. The government envisions E-City as a magnet for both domestic and international firms looking to establish a foothold in India's rapidly expanding electronics sector.
