Shree Cement, one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, has inaugurated a 20 MWp solar power plant in Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh.
This new facility will supply green power to the company’s Etah grinding unit through the wheeling and banking mechanism. The project, which has achieved its commercial operation date (COD) after verification by the Uttar Pradesh State Load Despatch Centre (UPSLDC), is expected to offset around 22,000 tonne of CO2 emissions annually, aligning with India’s clean energy goals. Phase 2 of the project is slated for commissioning by the end of Q4/FY26.
The initiative also generates 30-40 daily employment opportunities. Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, emphasised the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability, stating that the solar plant contributes to a greener, low-carbon future.
