Shree Cement has entered into a strategic five-year agreement with RITES, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, to enhance its rail infrastructure. The partnership aims to develop a robust, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation network to support Shree Cement’s expanding manufacturing footprint across India.
Under this memorandum of understanding (MoU), RITES will provide comprehensive, end-to-end services - from project conceptualisation to final commissioning, for the upgrade, renovation, and establishment of new rail connectivity. These will improve the transport of raw materials and finished goods across Shree Cement’s network and significantly reduce environmental impact. Managing Director of Shree Cement, Neeraj Akhoury, emphasised the importance of this collaboration for efficient logistics.
The MoU, which is extendable by mutual agreement, also includes RITES’ assistance in obtaining necessary regulatory clearances from the Ministry of Railways and other relevant bodies. This includes approvals for civil works, overhead electrification, signalling, telecom, and mechanical components. RITES will further support the contractor selection process by evaluating and certifying executing agencies during tenders.
