The board of Shree Cement on 27 October 2005
approved the setting up of a new 1.2 million tpa cement unit at its existing
facility at Ras in Pali district of Rajasthan. The cement unit is likely to cost
around Rs.300 crore.
To meet the energy requirements of the cement
plant, a 30-36 MW captive power plant has also been approved. The estimated cost
of the power plant is Rs.105 crore.
The project will be financed through internal
accruals and debt. The company has targeted commissioning of both the cement and
power plants in 2007-08.
Shree Cement is already in an advanced stage of
setting up a 1.2 million tpa cement plant (Unit 3) at the Ras cement complex.
Once Unit 4 is commissioned, the overall capacity
of the Ras cement complex will increase to 5 million tpa.
