National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)
has drawn up plans to conduct a feasibility study for the expansion of the
existing 1,000 MW Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station (STPS) at Visakhapatnam
in Andhra Pradesh.
According to Mr R C Srivastava, Executive
Director (Southern Region), NTPC has plans to add two more coal-based units of
500 MW each to the power station. There are also plans to construct a new
coal-based power plant within the Krishnapatnam Port in the state.
NTPC has yet to work out the cost of
the project and other details. The company is keen on these projects due to
their high business potential.
