Welspun Corp.'s wholly owned subsidiary Sintex–BAPL has finalised an investment of upto Rs 2,355 crore in order to set up manufacturing facilities in mutliple states.
The investment will be made in Telangana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir for plastic pipes and water storage with a total capacity of 200,000 MT and will cater to the water storage and distribution segment. The outlay will be spread over the next two financial years - FY25 to FY26 and the projects will be funded through a combination of debt and equity.
The move is in line with the company’s stated plan at the time of acquisition of Sintex-BAPL to enter into different types of plastic pipes segment. Along with improving existing business, it plans to foray into new product segments in new locations to propel Sintex's growth strategy. It has also signed a framework agreement with Rollepaal Pipe Extrusion Technology BV for incorporating superior technology.
The market size of plastic pipes used for buildings and infrastructure in India is likely to reach approx. Rs 65,000 crore in 2030.
