Bengaluru’s skydeck project has taken a major step forward with the finalisation of a permanent site—a 30-acre plot in Kommaghatta, located behind the Kengeri Satellite Club and adjacent to NICE Road. After several rounds of site rejections and revisions, this location, owned by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), was selected for its ample space, scenic backdrop with a nearby lake, and excellent connectivity.
Estimated at Rs 500 crore, the skydeck will feature a 250-metre-high observation tower offering a panoramic 360-degree view of Bengaluru. Envisioned as a tourism landmark, the structure is expected to transform the city’s urban tourism profile, drawing both locals and global visitors. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure (BSmile) has been assigned the execution of the mega project. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently inspected the site and directed officials to begin the land handover process.
The project had previously explored other potential sites, including Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, Byappanahalli, Hemmigepura, and Jnanabharathi. However, these were ruled out due to clearance issues, inadequate accessibility, and logistical constraints. With the Kommaghatta location now finalised, the skydeck is poised to become a signature addition to the city’s skyline.
