A six-lane, 1,200 mtr long bridge will be constructed over Ulhas creek. The MMRDA has invited tenders for this project. It will connect Kalyan-Dombivli to the Mumbai-Nashik Highway (National Highway-3).
As per the plan, the bridge is to be constructed between Mankoli and Motagaon. It will be completed within three years, with an estimated cost of Rs 245 crore. A bridge over the creek is the best option as constructing a road was not feasible due to the vast mangrove cover.
On completion of this bridge, the congestion on NH-3 and NH-8 will be reduced as traffic will be diverted towards the bridge through the Kalyan Ring Road-Katai Naka, and from the Karjat-Hal link Road to Khopoli (NH-4).
The MMRDA is also constructing a 300-bed hospital at the Lallubhai compound in Mankhurd which is scheduled to be completed by next year.
