A 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre is set to be developed at the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) through a collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this partnership is expected to be signed next week, according to a statement from the Commerce Ministry. During a visit to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), reviewed the progress of industrial infrastructure and startup initiatives in the region. He stressed the importance of attracting global capability centre (GCC) investments and fostering Research & Development (R&D) centres at AURIC to strengthen the local innovation ecosystem.
Stakeholders proposed integrating PMAY 2.0 subsidies with state housing policies to promote inclusive residential development within the industrial township. Other recommendations included improved logistics at Bidkin, enhanced connectivity between Aurangabad-Hyderabad-Chennai, a Vande Bharat terminal, MRO facility, local train services between Jalna and Waluj, affordable housing through MHADA, and a dedicated chemical zone. Additionally, stakeholders suggested raising MSME land reservation from 10 percent to 40 percent , reserving 10 percent of land for startups, and boosting skill development infrastructure at AURIC.
