On 08 December, 2025, Solarworld Energy Solutions signed a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) for the development of a 200 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Gujarat.
The agreement, which is part of the tariff-based competitive bidding (Phase VI) conducted by GUVNL earlier in the year, will provide on-demand energy storage solutions. Solarworld had previously received a letter of intent (LoI) for the project on 28 May, 2025. The mandate is valued at Rs 806.40 crore (excluding taxes) over a 12-year concession period.
GUVNL had issued the BESS tender in January 2025, awarding 500 MW/1,000 MWh of capacity to two companies: Solarworld Energy Solutions (200 MW/400 MWh) and HG Infra Engineering (300 MW/600 MWh). Solarworld secured the project with a tariff of Rs 2.80 lakh per MW per month.
