According to the statement issued by
Soma Enterprises on 24 September 2007, the company has completed the four-laning
of Porbandar-Bhiladi section of 50.5 km (between 2 km-52.5 km) on NH-8B, six
months ahead of schedule of the actual date of completion (November 2007) and
handed over to National Highways Authority of India.
The Porbandar Bhiladi, first stretch
on the Silchar-Porbandar (East-West ) corridor is a part of
North-South-East-West Corridor project. The project has been executed by Soma
Enterprises in joint venture with Limak Construction Industry & Trade Inc. The
scope of work included bypass (8 km), bridges (two major and 40 minor), culverts
(52) and bus bays (20).
