Steel Strips Wheels (SSWL) has launched plans for a major expansion with the approval of a lease agreement and capacity enhancement initiatives in Gujarat.
The Board approved a lease with AMW Autocomponent (AACL), its wholly owned subsidiary, for 288,793 sq. mtrs. of land in Bhuj, Kachchh, Gujarat. The lease will run for 11 months, starting 26 December, 2025. As part of the expansion, SSWL will establish two new manufacturing units. One will focus on alloy wheels with an estimated capacity of 7.2 million units annually, and the other will manufacture aluminum steering knuckles with a projected capacity of 0.6 million units per year.
The total investment for the alloy wheel facility is Rs 300 crore, while the knuckle manufacturing unit will require Rs 120 crore. Both units are expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of financial year 2026-27, pending regulatory approvals.
