Two new subways are being planned near Coimbatore main railway station and near Saibaba colony on NSR road in Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu Highways Department will be in charge of building the pedestrian subway on State Bank Road near railway station while the City Municipal Corporations of Tamil Nadu will execute the subway near Saibaba colony. The subway at the railway station will be constructed right opposite the main entrance of the station.
Also, the City Municipal Corporations of Tamil Nadu mooted for a road along Sanganoor canal which if proved feasible could serve as an inner ring road connecting Mettupalayam Road, Avinashi Road and Trichy Road in the city. And the Tamil Nadu Highways Department clarified that after the initial objections, the design for the proposed Rs 148 crore two tier Gandhipuram flyover will not have underpasses from 100 ft road and Sidhapudhur. Instead, an elevated second tier will connect the warehouse on Sidhapudhur to Kalyan Jewellers point on 100 ft road. The new project investment details will be finalised after the government approves the new design submitted for the flyover.
