Telangana's Irrigation Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy has highlighted the significance of the Sundilla barrage on the Godavari River as a central component of the revised Pranahita Chevella Sujala Sravanthi project.
The Tummidihatti-Sundilla link proposal aims to overcome previous obstacles in the original plan, which encountered issues due to coal seams along the canal route. The revised proposal will reduce the length of canals and tunnels, avoid geological difficulties, and cut environmental clearance requirements. These changes could save the state up to Rs 1,600 crore. The project, which is intended to improve irrigation and water management, will be based on technical soundness and financial prudence.
Minister Reddy has instructed officials to revalidate surveys and conduct new geotechnical and topographical studies to ensure feasibility. The revised project report will be submitted to the state Cabinet for deliberation.
