Super Smelters, a flagship company of SAI Group will make an an investment of around Rs 1,000 crore in the next two to three years in the state of West Bengal.
The investment will be made towards setting up a greenfield steel unit and expanding brownfield capacity.
The company, which manufactures SuperShakti brand of TMT bars, is looking forward at initially setting up a 2.5 lakh tonne unit to manufacture value added steels in Jamuria, adjacent to its existing steel unit in the state.
As part of its brownfield expansion, the company is planning to double the capacity of its unit from the existing 20,000 tpm to 40,000 tpm in Jamuria. The investment on the greenfield steel project is likely to be about Rs 600 to Rs 700 crore, and the remaining will be spent on the expansion.
The company has achieved a turnover of more than Rs 900 crore up to December 2020 and is hopeful of reaching a turnover of over Rs 1,200 crore by March 2020.
