Gold mining in the Jonnagiri area of Kurnool district is gaining momentum, with the Kadiri region emerging as a potential hotspot for large-scale gold deposits.
A recent survey conducted by a Central Public Sector Enterprise has uncovered substantial gold reserves in the area, raising hopes of a significant economic transformation. The surveying agency, which set up a temporary base near Kadiri about a week ago, is using advanced underground technologies to assess the depth and scale of these mineral resources for the survey underway.
Preliminary data suggests the presence of gold-bearing layers at intervals of just 50 mtrs. below the surface, with commercial viability confirmed for mining. According to experts, the region could soon develop into a major mining project. In response, the Andhra Pradesh government is preparing for an open auction of mining rights, with plans to allocate about 1,000 hectares of land. "This project could bring significant job opportunities and commercial activity," said sources familiar with the plans.
