Suzlon Energy, India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, has announced plans to set up three new AI-enabled smart blade factories in Gujarat and Karnataka, with a third location to be confirmed soon.
This expansion will bring Suzlon’s total manufacturing footprint to 20 facilities across India, helping the company meet its 6.2 GW order book while reducing logistics time and bringing production closer to key wind project hubs. The new factories will feature automation, digital workflows, robotics, and advanced monitoring systems, aimed at improving productivity, quality, and safety. Suzlon will also upgrade its 15 existing factories with similar technologies.
JP Chalasani, Group CEO, stated that the company has planned an annual capex of Rs 550 crore for these projects. He said Suzlon is building a manufacturing ecosystem that is “simpler, smarter, and faster,” backed by six guiding principles—rapid, scalable, intelligent, connected, personalised, and technology-led.Suzlon’s expansion aligns with India’s growing wind energy sector, as the country aims to achieve 100 GW of wind capacity by 2030. The new factories are expected to create 3,000 direct and 12,000 indirect employment, with the majority in rural areas.
