Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a major expansion in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1,370 crore.
The IT major has been allotted 21.16 acres of land at a symbolic price of 99 paise per acre, a strategic move by the Andhra Pradesh government to attract big-ticket investments and establish the city as a key IT hub. The decision was cleared by the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet at Amaravati, following efforts by the State's IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh.
TCS’s new facility is expected to generate employment for 12,000 peope, amidst Visakhapatnam’s growing IT ecosystem, which already hosts players like Wipro and Tech Mahindra.
The initiative is aligned with the State’s broader IT and GCC Policy 2024–30, which aims to make Visakhapatnam a prime destination for global technology companies. With the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport just an hour away, along with strong connectivity, coastal advantage, and a vibrant lifestyle environment, officials believe the city is well-positioned to attract sustained investment. “
