Agratas, the battery manufacturing arm of the Tata Group, has made significant strides in building its battery production facility in Sanand, Gujarat.
The structural steel framework is nearing completion, marking a key milestone in the development of the 320-acre facility. Once fully operational, the plant is set to produce 20 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery capacity annually in its first phase. Over 2,000 construction workers and more than 700 vendor personnel are currently working at the site, underscoring the scale of the project. Anand Sodha, Vice President of Supply Chain at Agratas, noted that the facility is poised to become one of India's most advanced battery manufacturing plants.
Tata Projects and Tata Consulting Engineers are supporting the construction, focusing on sustainable infrastructure. Agratas is also developing an integrated supply chain system for real-time logistics management, aiming to align with global standards. The Sanand project plays a crucial role in India’s clean energy transition and will support both electric vehicle and energy storage segments.
