Tata Power is set to finalise its 10 GW wafer and ingot manufacturing project by January next year, marking a key step in completing its solar manufacturing integration.
The proposed project, estimated to cost Rs 6,500 crore, is part of the company’s broader clean energy strategy and backward integration plans. Tata Power is currently evaluating multiple locations and is in discussions with states such as Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, carefully reviewing state policies and incentives before taking a final call. The facility will strengthen Tata Power’s position as a fully integrated solar manufacturer, as it already operates solar cell and module plants.
CEO and MD Praveer Sinha said clarity on the project would emerge in the last quarter of FY26, adding, “In January, we would be making some announcement.” The project aligns with Tata Power’s long-term plan to invest heavily in renewable energy, scale up capacity, and support India’s clean energy transition while reducing dependence on imports in the solar value chain.
