The Centre has approved national highway projects worth Rs 30,425 cr in Telangana, covering 1,174 km, alongside Rs 868 cr under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for 422 km.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy stated 26 projects are in the DPR stage, urging the state to expedite land acquisition and forest clearances. A four-lane elevated corridor over the Tiger Reserve connecting Hyderabad to Srisailam is under serious consideration, with night traffic on the current route restricted for wildlife. Other key works include Rs 13,957 cr for a 161.5 km regional expressway from Girmapur to Tangadapalli, Rs 2,662 cr for 80 km on NH-167, and multiple expansions and repairs on NH-63, NH565, NH-930P, and others.
Projects delayed due to land issues are expected to be fast-tracked. The Centre has emphasised road safety and infrastructure development, responding to local demands. An underpass at Hyderabad–Yadagirigutta and cable bridge over Krishna River are among highlighted projects.
