The Telangana government has approved the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), aiming to convert over 9,000 acres of industrial land within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits into mixed-use zones.
Areas like Balanagar, Kukatpally, Kattedan, Sanathnagar, Nacharam, Uppal, and Jeedimetla will undergo repurposing to support residential, commercial, institutional, recreational, and IT-ITES activities. This initiative comes in response to the rapid urbanisation of Hyderabad, which has rendered many industries in these zones economically and environmentally unviable.
The policy will be overseen by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), with a systematic approval process via the TG-iPASS portal. Applicants must pay a one-time development impact fee, which varies depending on the width of the roads surrounding the land. “The policy aims to create sustainable urban growth while accommodating the city's industrial transition,” the government stated.
