Reaffirming its commitment to the Musi river rejuvenation project, the Telangana government on 23 August, 2025 released Rs 375 crore to the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation (MRDCL) for implementation.
On the same day, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu asserted there was “no going back” on the initiative. The project aims to revive the Musi ecosystem while fostering economic growth, recreation, and sustainable development. Planned facilities include pedestrian zones, heritage areas, cycle tracks, green spaces, hawker zones, bridges, tourist and sports amenities, parking, retail, and hospitality infrastructure.
The government had earlier earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for MRDCL in 2025–26, of which Rs 750 crore has now been released. Sridhar Babu highlighted the state’s strides in greenery, water conservation, and carbon-neutral growth while urging climate-resilient urban planning.
