In a significant boost to Telangana’s Indiramma housing scheme for urban areas, the Centre has sanctioned 1.13 lakh housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban 2.0 (PMAY-Urban 2.0).
The state will receive nearly Rs 1,500 crore in Central funds for this phase. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other ministers have held multiple meetings with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, seeking approval for 20 lakh housing units.
The Telangana government has set a target of building 20 lakh Indiramma houses with a Rs 22,500 crore budget over the next five years. Of this, 2.5 lakh houses were sanctioned in the first phase, and construction of 1.5 lakh units has already started. Each beneficiary will receive Rs five lakh-Rs 1.5 lakh from the Centre and Rs 3.5 lakh from the state government.
