On 29 July 2013, Dr Kavuru Sambasiva Rao, Union Minister for Textiles, inaugurated Lotus Integrated Texpark at the Trident Complex in Dhaula village, Sarigrur district of Punjab.
The texpark, spread over 100 acre, has seven units, including four units for terry towel, bathrobe, fabric dyeing, and cut, stitch and packing; and two other textile units for melange yarn spinning and fibre dyeing. However, three more units will need to be developed in the park.
The project was promoted by Union Textile Ministry. The seven units in the park are estimated to cost Rs 600 crore. The total investment outlay on all 10 units of this park was fixed at Rs 850 crore.
Meanwhile, the Union Minister asked Punjab industrialists to come forward and enter the textile industry as Punjab had a cotton belt in Bathinda.
