The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is constructing an 8.24-km elevated corridor from Anand Nagar to Saket in Thane West.
The Rs 1,847.72-crore project aims to alleviate traffic congestion on the Eastern Express Highway, particularly at major junctions like Teen Hath Naka and Majiwada. Despite existing flyovers, traffic remains slow due to conflicting slip roads and service roads. The new corridor will bypass these intersections, offering a signal-free route and reducing commute times for both local and intercity traffic.
The six-lane elevated road is expected to be completed by 2028, with a significant boost to regional connectivity. “The elevated corridor will provide a much-needed solution to the chronic traffic woes in Thane,” an MMRDA official said.
