Three companies have submitted bids for manufacturing 44 rakes of Vande Bharat train sets. The three companies are - BHEL, Medha Servo Drives and CRRC-Pioneer Electric India.
The railways will start evaluation of technical bids for the contract worth around Rs 1,800 crore. This is an indigenous tender with stipulation of minimum local content of 75 percent.
BHEL is a government PSU and Medha is an India firm, while CRRC-Pioneer Electric India is a joint venture between Beijing based CRRC Yongji Electric and India’s Pioneer Fil-Med, which has its plant in Haryana.
