Titagarh Rail Systems has rolled out its first driverless Made in India trainset for Ahmedabad, marking a significant milestone for India's urban mobility.
The trainset was handed over to the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) at Titagarh's state-of-the-art Passenger Rail Systems facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal. The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, who praised the project as crucial to the state's high-velocity mobility plans. The stainless steel trainsets are lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant, designed to improve energy efficiency and sustainability. They will serve the 28.26 km Metro network connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Equipped with advanced Train Control and Management Systems, the trains are capable of driverless operations, ensuring safety and comfort with modern amenities and spaces for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). "Titagarh is committed to advancing India's urban mobility landscape with sustainable, future-ready transportation solutions," said Umesh Chowdhary, as he outlined the company's future plans for global expansion.
