Titagarh Rail Systems has acquired a 99-year lease on 40 acres of land from the West Bengal government for Rs 126.63 crore to boost production at its Uttarpara facility in Hooghly district.
This land, located across mouzas Kotrung and Bhadrakali, is adjacent to Titagarh's existing 34-acre plant, making it a critical addition to the company’s expansion strategy. “The additional land will enable us to establish extra production infrastructure and dedicated areas for forming, testing, and commissioning of metro coaches and Vande Bharat trains,” the company stated in a regulatory filing. A test track of adequate length will also be constructed to ensure comprehensive performance and safety validation before delivery.
With this expansion, Titagarh plans to increase its annual production capacity from 300 to approx. 850 rail cars by FY'28. The company will also raise Rs 200 crore through a preferential issue of warrants to members of the Promoter group.
